Halo exists because health information is personal. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. In short: your data is yours, nothing is shared with anyone unless you choose it, and we never sell it.
We collect the least we can to make Halo work, we keep it for as long as it is useful to you, and we make it easy to take it with you or delete it. We do not sell personal information, we do not share it with data brokers, and we do not use it to target advertising.
Your email address when you join the waitlist or reserve a device. Your name, shipping address, and payment details when you place an order, though payment card numbers go to our payment processor and never touch our servers. Anything you write to us in support conversations.
Once you have a device, the app collects readings about balance, movement, and vital signs, along with the notes you choose to add, such as a sore knee or a poor night of sleep. This is health information and we treat it that way.
Halo does not record audio or video. Location is off by default. If you turn it on, it is used only for the sharing you have set up, and you can turn it off at any time.
To learn your usual pattern and show you how today compares. To send the updates and summaries you have asked for. To send the people you have chosen exactly what you have chosen to share with them. To provide support, process orders, and keep Halo secure. To understand, in aggregate, how Halo is used so we can improve it.
Nothing goes to a family member, caregiver, or doctor unless you switch it on, one item at a time. You can see every active sharing setting in the app and turn any of it off whenever you like. We do not share your health data with employers, insurers, or advertisers, ever.
We use a small number of vendors to run the business: a payment processor for orders and subscriptions, an email provider for the messages you have asked for, and cloud hosting to store your data. They may process your information only to perform work for us, under contract, and not for their own purposes.
We may disclose information if we are legally required to. If we receive a request for your data and we are permitted to tell you, we will.
Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access inside the company is limited to the people who need it, and logged. No system is perfect, so if a breach ever affects your information, we will tell you promptly and plainly.
We keep your health data while your account is open. If you close your account, we delete it within 30 days, except for records we are required to keep, such as order and tax records.
You can ask us for a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, or object to a use of it. Email founders@gethalo.care and we will respond within 30 days. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act; we extend the same rights to everyone regardless of state.
Halo is not for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
If we make a material change to this policy, we will email you before it takes effect. The date at the top always shows the current version.
Questions about privacy go to founders@gethalo.care and are answered by a person, not a form.
